Ilex crenata 'Jersey Jewel'

‘Jersey Jewel’ is a distinctive Japanese holly cultivar characterized by tiny, deep green, oval leaves that gently cup and arrange themselves in a unique layered pattern. Each set of leaves alternates at a 90° angle on short, stiff branches, creating an eye-catching, architectural form. With an irregular yet structured habit, it provides a striking companion to dwarf conifers and other refined garden elements.

Similar to ‘Dwarf Pagoda’ but with even smaller leaves, ‘Jersey Jewel’ thrives in rich, acidic soils and prefers full sun to partial shade. Its sculptural quality and year-round evergreen foliage make it a conversation-worthy addition to rock gardens, borders, or container plantings.

  • Garden Size:  3’H x 2’W
  • Growth Rate:  2-4″/year
  • Habit:  Broad Upright
  • Hardiness:  Zone 5
  • Exposure:  Sun to Partial Shade

Many perennials and bonsai plants take on a 'winter look' that's different from their summer appearance. The colder temperatures and shorter days trigger seasonal changes, which are actually part of their natural cycle. Some plants need this winter break to bloom and perform their best when the growing season returns. While they might look semi-dormant until early spring, these cosmetic changes don’t impact their health at all.

Bonsai Basic Care: Hard

Watering: Bonsais require careful watering. The frequency depends on the species and the climate, but generally, the soil should be kept slightly moist. Check the soil daily, and water thoroughly when the top layer feels dry.

Light: Most bonsai trees prefer bright, indirect light. A few hours of direct sunlight early in the morning or late in the afternoon is beneficial, but a direct midday sun can be harmful, especially in hotter climates.

Soil/Drainage: To prevent water retention and root rot, use a well-draining bonsai-specific soil mix.

Temperature/Humidity: Depending on the species, bonsai trees can be kept indoors or outdoors. Indoor bonsais generally prefer temperatures between 60-75°F and benefit from increased humidity, which can be achieved through daily misting or humidity trays.

Feeding: Fertilize your bonsai regularly during the growing season. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every few weeks or as recommended for the specific type of tree.

Pruning/Training: Pruning is essential to maintaining the shape and health of a bonsai. Regular pruning of the roots and canopy is necessary. Training with wires can also shape branches and direct growth.

Repotting: Most bonsai trees require repotting every 2-5 years to prevent root crowding and replenish nutrients in the soil. This is best done in the spring.

General Tips: Regularly inspect for pests and diseases. Bonsai trees are susceptible to insect infestations and fungal infections, which should be treated promptly to keep the tree healthy.

Order & Shipping Info:
-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.

Important:

  • Report any order issues the day they arrive by messaging us on Etsy or emailing [email protected] with a photo. After 24 hours, no refunds, returns, or exchanges—no exceptions.
  • We guarantee plants arrive alive but can’t promise long-term success due to plant nature.
  • Refunds are case-by-case. Many plants recover with proper care, so refunds may not be needed.

SEEMS TO WORK WELL... IF YOU CAN GET IT INTO THE TIRE
Size: 10oz, Size: 10oz
The front 11x6 tires of our Scag ZTR mower leaked air around the bead (a common problem). I bought one 10-oz bag to treat them, for about $22. No matter how much I squeezed and squeezed, it would not dispense product. Turns out a small plug of "something" had clogged the hole in the cap (see photo). This might not be a problem for the syringe version but it sure was with the bag. After discarding about an ounce of product and clearing the hole with a finishing nail, I was able to treat both tires. I drove the mower for ~15 minutes. Four days later they seem to be holding air. Previously, they went flat in two days. So it seems to be working, but I have to drop a star for a flawed delivery system. If the tires start going flat again within an unreasonable period of time I'll come back and update this report.

Fan For Life!
Size: Gallon
I would not expect this to seal sidewall penetration or save an old tire from dry rot, but when it comes to road surface tire penetration there is absolutely no better or faster way to repair a flat. 1. You don’t have to remove the tire from the vehicle. Losing half a day waiting for a fixed flat tire is at an end! 2. While a bit pricey, it comes out to be a bit cheaper than a shop trip for smaller UTV or mower tires and A LOT cheaper for larger truck and tractor tires. In 2024, we spent over $350 on flats. 3. We have spiny honey locust trees and bushes invading our farm and deal with flats at least once a month, usually more often than that when clearing fence lines and trees or maintaining pastures. Not to mention the aggravating repeated flats on the same tire are gone. 4. The injector is a bit messy, but the residue will wash off in water if it is cleaned before it dries. 5. So far of the six treated tires on various machines, we’ve had no repeat flats or leaks. 6. Red valve covers come with the packaging so it’s easy to see whether a tire has been treated. 7. This works on tubes and no tubed tires. 8. I’ve used this on my truck, SUV, riding mower, UTV, tractor front tires, and backhoe front tires. Works as promised every time. If the manufacturer is reading this review, I would appreciate a simpler dosing and injection system - especially on the gallon jug. I’m thinking of something like the pump on a lotion bottle where one pump equals one ounce for example. And provide more than one injector hose. Attach a string or other keeper on the valve removal tool. Losing this tiny tool would make the whole system inoperative. Overall, I’m a lifetime fan.

Works Awesome
Size: 40oz
Product works great. I have it in my lawn mower tires. I have a property that we cleared of 100's of mesquite trees and I have been getting flats everytime I mowed. I added this to the tires and have now mowed 6 times with no flats. Keep in mind it does not work on tires with tubes but works perfect for tubeless tires. I have ordered 2 more kits for my 4 wheelers.

Awesome stuff, used it on some very dry rotted law mower tires just to see what it would do. Worked great holding air again
